In an argument about women serving in special force roles, an idiot suggested that it wasn’t a good idea because “special forces are often employed to train foreign forces and foreigners aren’t often up to the western standards of gender equality.” First off, I’ll point out that this fool is not a mature soldier and thus is not a special operator of any sort. The primary reason I support women in the special forces is because special force troops are older and more mature -mature enough to look beyond bullshit. If a woman is willing and capable of competing at the same standards as men, she should be given the chance. I do not advocate a unique benchmark for women.
But I’d like to specifically attack his suggestion by offering that many of the west’s traditional marxist enemies like The Viet Cong were chuck full of women and perhaps ahead of the west in terms of gender equality. In fact, many small revolutionary armies and coups throughout the developing world fielded whoever was willing, and with powerful effects. The PKK in Northearn Iraq (shown above) still consistently beats up on their well trained Turkish advesaries. While this doesn’t give much support in the way of women in the traditional infantry, it sure speaks volumes about women’s usefullness in small irregular teams -like the special forces. Suggesting that people may not be willing to learn from a women ignores the fact school teachers throughout the world are often women too.
I am no longer acknowledging red-neck, p.o.g. douches when they speak. Go back to your truck and get my hunters some lunch.
